Plus, it’s located only and hour and a half away from Brisbane by car, and there are plenty of flights that leave daily for the Sunshine Coast from most of the nearby cities.
The area is mostly known for its beautiful and pristine beaches, but the Noosa National Park is also a fantastic backdrop for your wedding photography, and surrounding venues offer beautiful views of both the coast, hinterland, and wildlife. The area is ideal for tropical weddings.

Travel & Hotel Accommodations
The closest airport in the Sunshine Coast region is the Sunshine Coast Airport, formerly known as the Maroochydoore Airport. It offers connecting and direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, so all your out-of-state and Australian guests, as well as your International guests, will be able to reach your wedding with ease. Also, it only takes an hour and a half to travel from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast by car, so those who fly into Brisbane have the option of driving as well.
Hotels in the Sunshine Coast region are aplenty, costing anywhere from $60 – upwards of $250 per night. There are numerous hotels along the coast itself, so your guests will have many options. Don’t forget to ask for preferential rates for your guests when booking hotel blocks! Also, there are many Airbnb’s available in the region, with the most popular locations and homes costing upwards of $50 per night.
Weather and Climate Considerations
The Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia, is another one of those coastal regions that is well known for being quite warm year-round. The warmest months are, of course, during the summer from November to March, with a high of 29oC in January and low of 18oC in November. However, even the winter months are quite warm, with a high of 22oC in August and a low of 9oC in July.
Something to keep in mind is that there is a fair amount of rain in the later summer months, January to March (and into the spring, April and May). You can expect an average of approximately 10 days of rain during each of these months, so if you are planning an outdoor wedding, we recommend making sure your wedding ceremony and/or reception venue has a backup plan / location for inclement weather — but we do suggest this year-round, just in case.
