Travel & Hotel Accommodations

There are quite a few airports in and around the Southern Highlands, New South Wales, region in Australia that your out-of-state and international wedding guests can fly into to attend your wedding festivities.

These include the Katoomba airport, Mittagong Airport, and Illawarra Regional Airport. For those guests coming from further away, we suggest they fly into the Sydney International airport.

It takes only an hour and a half to drive to the centre of the Southern Highlands region from Sydney!

There are many hotels available in the area, and they range from about $50 – $200 per night, making accommodations quite affordable for you and your wedding guests.

Don’t forget to ask the hotel for preferential rates when reserving a block of rooms for your wedding guests!

There are also some Airbnb’s offered in the area, with the most popular rooms and houses costing approximately $50 – $250 per night.

 

Weather and Climate Considerations

The Southern Highlands, New South Wales, of Australia, has the ideal weather for wedding ceremonies and receptions in the spring and summer months, November to March.

The highest temperatures will be reached in January, and coolest summer months are December and March. The coldest months are in the winter, June to August.

In terms of precipitation, this region doesn’t experience too much rainfall, but the summer months do experience their fair share – approximately 7 days of rain each month.

Don’t risk scheduling an outdoor wedding ceremony or reception without asking for a backup plan or location in case of inclement weather, even in the drier months of May to October (of course, these months are also much cooler, so they aren’t very ideal for outdoor ceremonies).
