More on Wedding in Canberra

The Canberra region is known for its lovely vineyards and views of the Lake Burley Griffin and Lake George. There is also the Brindabella National Park, Bullen Range Nature Reserve, and many other nature reserves in the area that can serve as amazing sites for your wedding photography. Canberra, as the capital city of Australia, offers many lovely and luxurious wedding venues, including the National Museum and National Gallery.

Popular Canberra Wedding Venues &Prices

Wedding venues in the Canberra region will range from $100 – $180 per head, plus venue hire fees, taxes, and gratuities. Most of the venues you will find in this region will be wineries and hotels, as well as the museum locations and several gardens. Many of the venues will be more of a rustic type and most are outdoors, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find a fancy, elegant, or luxurious wedding ceremony or reception venue! For example, we love the National Museum of Australia for its gorgeous architecture and modern décor, but it is more pricey than some of the other venues we’ve listed here.

Travel & Hotel Accommodations

The closest airport is the Canberra Airport, which offers international and domestic flights, so your out-of-state and international wedding guests will be able to attend your wedding with no issues. It is also about a three hour drive from Sydney, so friends and family from the city will be able to make a day trip out of the drive to your wedding festivities.

Hotels in the region will range, on average, from $60 – $150 per night.

Weather and Climate Considerations

If you are looking to get married in the warmer months, you want to stick to the months of October to March (high of 29oC in January and low of 11oC in March, and avoid May to September. You also want to avoid July to September due to a higher chance of rain, although October and November also experience some rainfall as well, so be sure to speak to your venue about bad weather backups like an indoor location or a marquee.
