FAQs

On average, a Canberra wedding photographer costs $3770, as per the results of our 2022 Annual Couples’ Survey. This price isn’t set in stone as it can vary between $2990 and $4890. This may or may not include additional things you might like, this could be more time to shoot photos, more photos photos, or physical things like a photo album.

When it comes to a Canberra wedding photographer, your best bet is to book at least a year to a year and a half in advanced for your wedding. However, there are some people who do actually book their photographers two years or even more in advance. This is mostly due to the fact that some photographers might be very popular, or your date is a popular date. You should book your photographer as soon as possible so you can lock your date in.

If your wedding is taking place within the Canberra area then you shouldn’t be charged a travel fee. However if your wedding is regionally, interstate or internationally you might be charged travel fees. This might increase if you need to help pay for airfare and accommodation.

For the most part, you’ll get your photos between 6 – 12 weeks. However, this will vary depending on if your photographer prides themselves on quick turnarounds. You might also be allowed a sneak peak from the photographer, or they might offer to expedite your photos for a fee. But your best bet is to just wait it out until your photographer is ready to display your wedding photos.

If you’ve cancelled because you found a photographer at a cheaper rate, then no. Especially if it’s close to your wedding, then it isn’t fair on the photographer to have lost business.

If something happens that’s out of your hands (think illness, death or natural disasters) then photographers will be understanding. However, this is something you’ll have to discuss with your photographer beforehand, so please see their fees just in case.

Most photographers will have a non-negotiable fee to lock in your wedding day, and it’s there so that the photographer has something to fall back on if the day needs to be cancelled.

If you feel like you have to have a 2nd photographer, then by all means go for it. It’s up to you and your budget. Some photographers might either bring a 2nd photographer free of charge, or offer it in a package, or not have one at all.

Your photographer will get some fantastic photos of you, your partner and your guests regardless of if there’s a 2nd photographer or not.
