More on Gold Coast Weddings

Located less than an hour south of Brisbane, the Gold Coast is highly sought after for vacations and weddings. Although it is well known for its amusement parks, such as Sea World and Dreamworld, it also offers gorgeous waterfront wedding ceremony and reception venues, and the warm weather year-round makes for great outdoor wedding conditions! There are also many great wedding photography locations, such as the rainforests, waterfalls, national parks, and hinterland. The bustling region also has some great wineries and fabulous restaurants with great food. Don’t forget the 57 km of beautiful, pristine beaches, with areas for surfing and relaxation —so there’s something for everyone in the wedding party and guest list!

Popular Gold Coast Wedding Venues & Prices

Many of the Gold Coast wedding venues will be in the form of beaches, waterfronts, wineries, private estates / manors, and hotels / resorts, but there are also gardens, golf courses, beautiful old churches and chapels, and restaurants / cafés also available. The cost of a wedding venue on the Gold Coast will vary, but the more popular venues, like the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, can cost up to $250 per head. Of course, you can also find more affordable wedding venues, as low as $30 per head (for more intimate and relaxed affairs).

Travel & Hotel Accommodations

The Gold Coast Airport lies on the south of the Gold coast region, and close to the border of Queensland and New South Wales. It offers regional, domestic, and international flights, so your wedding guests will be able to travel to your wedding festivities with no problem. Plus, it only takes about a half hour to drive from the airport to the Gold Coast, and an hour by train. It also takes less than an hour (approximately 50 minutes) to drive down to the Gold Coast from Brisbane, Queensland.

There are a plethora of great hotels available in the Gold Coast region of Queensland, with a range of prices, from $70 – $300+ per night. Typically, the closer one gets to the coast, the more expensive the hotels. There are also many Airbnb’s available in the area, with the most popular starting at $50 per night, so there are plenty of affordable options for your wedding guest accommodations.

Weather and Climate Considerations

The Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia, is well known for its gorgeous, warm weather year round. You can expect the warmest weather in the summer months, from November to March, with a high of 28oC and a low of 18oC. The cooler months are in the winter, June to August, with a high of 22oC and a low of 9oC.

We do suggest avoiding the months of January to March, as they do experience more rainfall than usual, and there is also the possibility of tropical cyclones during these months as well. They’re also very warm, so outdoor weddings may have you and your guests feeling uncomfortable. The months with the least rainfall are in the winter and spring, from June to October (an average of 5 days of rain).
