I’m Dearne, but I go by Dea. Alot of people can’t pronounce Dearne too well…so I end up with variations..such as ‘Dern’ , ‘Dean’ and ‘Dearknee’…yep, I can’t work out how either!

I am a mum to 2 free spirited mini men– I never knew my heart could be overflowing with love till I had these two (I also never knew that grey hair grows so quickly when you have kids!). I am a wife to a hunk-o-spunk husband, who is the one who encouraged me to chase my dreams. My dad is an artist, my mum owned a fancy dress shop for 15 years (that was started by my grandparents) and my brother owns Butler’s Customs and Cafe Racers.

Little Black Bow Photography was started by owner and head photographer Dearne (Dea) Penman. With her background in art and photography and love for old fashioned commitment and story telling, photographing families and weddings was something that happened organically.

We mainly photograph weddings in Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Port Stephens, Central Coast and Great Lakes, but if you love our style and would like us at your wedding that isn’t in one of these areas, please let us know because we do love the occasional road trip or plane flight!

It’s important to us to be able to tell your story as it happens, this is why we pride ourselves on making the experience relaxed, fun and as non obtrusive as possible!
