1. Introduction: What's your story?
I’m Nat, the owner of Nat Image. My videography journey began in 2017 when I was working at Disney World Orlando. I was doing a bit of travelling through the United States and decided to document my travels on my iPhone 5. Whilst it wasn’t the best quality, it really sparked my love for storytelling and finding the beauty in capturing those candid moments. I purchased my first camera the following year and started photographing and filming whatever I could including events, portraits, nightclubs and restaurants. I “accidentally” shot my first wedding in 2019, capturing promotional content for the caterer. I was hesitant at first to fully dive into wedding videography because of the pressure of capturing such an important day in a couple’s life. However when covid caused couples to have smaller weddings and elopements, I found it was a good time to get into it and launched my wedding business officially and have loved filming and telling amazing love stories ever since.
2. How long have you been filming weddings? How many weddings have you filmed?
I’ve been filming weddings for almost 5 years now and have filmed more than 100!
3. How would you describe your videography style?
My videography style is a blend of romantic, intimate moments and fun, upbeat energy. I focus on capturing the day as it naturally happens, documenting genuine emotions and candid interactions between couples and their guests. While I prioritise natural moments, I also direct to ensure I capture the best locations and lighting and give prompts to couples who might be a little camera shy. This allows me to create a wedding video that feels both real, cinematic and reflects the couple’s unique wedding vibe.
4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding videographer?
Couples should aim to book their videographer about 9-12 months before their wedding. After setting their date and booking their venue is a great time to be looking. It’s a good idea to create a rough timeline for the wedding day so you know how many hours coverage you’ll need when enquiring and looking at packages.
5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
I offer a range of packages from ceremony only with a solo videographer to full day coverage with multiple videographers. My most popular package is “The Essentials” which includes 1 videographer for up to 8 hours coverage, a 5-7 minute highlight film, full ceremony video and full speech videos. I include full ceremony and speech videos (if applicable) in all my packages because I think those moments are really important to rewatch on video and photos just can’t quite capture them in the same way as a video can because it doesn’t have audio.
6. Are you the wedding videographer who will be filming on the wedding day? How many camera people and cameras will be operating on the day?
Yes it is me who films on the wedding day and sometimes a second videographer as well if the couple books a package with a second shooter. I generally use 3 cameras, particular for the ceremony and speeches to ensure I get a mix of angles and reactions.
The nice thing about running my own small business is that everything is done by me, from communications, to filming on the day, to editing. My couples know who they’re dealing with throughout the whole process, and can be assured they’ll receive a final product which is consistent with my previous work.
7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
Travel within the Brisbane region is included in my packages. I do charge a travel fee for Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba weddings. Depending on the distance and whether a second shooter is required this can vary from about $100-$250.
8. How do you back-up your footage to ensure no footage is lost and for how long do you keep the footage after the wedding?
The cameras I use have dual card slots which means while I’m filming a wedding the files are being stored to 2 cards simultaneously. This means if 1 card is corrupted, there is a second back up. When I get home from a wedding I transfer the files to 2 hard drives and my computer. Once I finish editing a wedding I ensure the raw footage and project files are backed up to 2 hard drives. I’ll keep the footage saved indefinitely but my contract only guarantees I’ll have the files archived for 1 year post wedding. I encourage my couples to have their files saved to multiple devices. In the event they do lose them I can generally provide the files again, however I can’t guarantee that’ll have them saved until say their 50th wedding anniversary.
9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the video? And how will the video be delivered?
My turnaround time is typically 4-6 weeks, however during peak wedding season in Spring and Autumn, this can extend to 6-8 weeks. I send a google drive link where the couple can download all their videos such as their highlight film, speech videos and ceremony video. I also send a YouTube link to the highlight film so they have the option of sharing that link with family and friends or posting directly to their social media.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
I take a 20% deposit on booking which is non-refundable and the remaining balance is due 1 month before the wedding. Where a client cancels after full payment has been made, they are entitled to a 50% refund. Where a client must postpone and I’m unavailable for the new date, a mutually agreeable solution will be found, such as a partial or full refund or credit towards other services.
