1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hi, I’m Simone, a wedding photographer based in Perth! I’ve lived just five minutes from Fremantle all my life, and I’ve been in love with photography since I was 13, when I "borrowed" my dad’s Canon T-50 (and never quite gave it back!). My first job was at a Kodak photo lab, where I got to play with film and develop my eye for detail. From there, I managed and set up film photo labs before discovering a real passion for weddings in 2000, when I met my biggest mentor, Tony Dunkley. Working in his professional wedding photography lab led me to start photographing weddings myself, and by 2015, I was ready to launch my own brand, Simone Harris Photography.
I love the great outdoors—especially bushland and red-dirt landscapes. When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll likely find me camping in the swag, capturing wildflowers and everything else the bush has to offer. Family is incredibly important to me, which is a big reason I’m so passionate about wedding photography. I know the moments I capture on your wedding day will mean the world to you and your loved ones, now and for generations to come.
If you’re looking for an easygoing, down-to-earth photographer who’s serious about capturing every beautiful detail, I’d love to hear from you!
2. How long have you been shooting weddings and how many weddings have you photographed?
I photographed my first wedding in 1998 and truly discovered my passion and skill for it in 2000. Since then, I’ve been honored to capture countless wedding days. I’ve never kept a strict count, as each couple’s story means far more to me than just a number!
3. How would you describe your photography style?
My photography style? It’s simple: it’s all about you! Now, anyone who says they don’t "pose" at all is telling a bit of a tall tale. There’s always a bit of direction, especially during the wedding portraits and family photos—it just helps everyone look their best! But don’t worry, your ceremony and reception are all about candid, fly-on-the-wall moments. I’m not the type to take over the day; I’m more the quiet observer, moving around to capture the magic without getting in the way.
I like to keep the colors true to life, so in decades to come, you’ll remember your day just as it was. No wild editing trends here! Just a genuine, timeless reflection of your day that’ll bring all those memories flooding back.
4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?
The best time to book your wedding photographer? As soon as you’ve set your date! If you find a photographer (or any vendor, really) that you love, lock them in right away—once a date is booked, it’s gone for good. I’ve even had couples plan their date around my availability, which always gives me the warm fuzzies! So, if you’re set on a photographer, don’t wait—grab that date before someone else does!
5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
I offer a few different packages to make sure you get the perfect coverage for your big day! Here’s the rundown:
The Epic – This is my most popular package because it covers absolutely everything! It starts with both of you getting ready, follows through the ceremony, family photos, wedding party portraits, and right into the reception until the dance floor opens. This package is perfect if you want to capture the full story of your day. Up to 8 hours coverage.
The Luxe – This package is ideal for couples who want most of the big moments but don’t need late-night coverage. It includes both of you getting ready, the ceremony, family and wedding party photos, and wraps up as you make your grand entrance into the reception. Or skip your preparations and have coverage from your ceremony. Up to 6 hours coverage - you can chose the parts most important to you.
The Sweetest – A great option for shorter coverage! This one starts at your ceremony, includes family photos, and wedding party shots, then finishes as you head into your reception. Up to 4 hours coverage.
All packages include a password-protected online gallery, a full set of color images, black and white versions, a sneak peek of your day, and edited images on a custom USB. Plus, I’m here to help with timeline guidance. For an added touch, you can get custom albums and wall prints—gorgeous keepsakes for future generations.
Packages start at $2795 plus GST. Investing in great photography means you’ll have these memories to treasure for a lifetime (and pass down!).
6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?
Yes, I’m the one who will be there capturing every moment on your wedding day! Weddings are incredibly personal, so I believe it’s important that you meet me and feel confident that I’m the right fit for you. I’m the one who’ll answer your emails, calls, and texts—and, of course, I’ll be there on the day itself. Personalised service is what I’m all about!
Unlike businesses that use big teams or subcontract photographers, where you might not know who you’ll get on the day, I’ll be with you every step of the way, ensuring the photos you receive reflect the style you fell in love with. Some couples are fine with a more “team-based” approach, but if you want a truly personal experience and consistency in style, an owner-operator photographer is the way to go!
7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
For Perth metro weddings, there’s no travel fee at all—I’m happy to travel across the city without any extra charges. I also cover weddings in the South West, including beautiful spots like Busselton, Margaret River, and Bridgetown, with no additional travel fee.
If your wedding location is around 2-3 hours from Perth, I’ll likely be able to travel to you for my regular package price. For weddings further afield that require flights or an overnight stay, I’d just ask for a bit of help with travel costs. So, if you're planning an adventurous wedding, just let me know, and we can sort out the details!
8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?
Albums and prints are available as a beautiful add-on to my packages! While digital galleries are super convenient (and I know many couples love them), there’s something truly special about having a wedding album to pass down through generations. If you’re looking for a timeless keepsake you can hold and share, albums and prints are a wonderful option.
9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive their wedding photos? How will they be delivered?
You’ll get a sneak peek of your wedding photos within 24 to 72 hours (depending on how many weddings I have lined up and where yours is located). If you’re having a destination wedding, it might take a little longer, but I’ll always keep you in the loop! Your full gallery will be ready in about 6 to 8 weeks, and you’ll get access to it via a private online gallery with a password, so you can easily share all your beautiful moments with your loved ones. If you're getting married in the off-peak season (like winter), the turnaround time can be even faster!
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
My full terms and conditions are provided when you enquire or indicate you would like to book, as I like to keep things clear and transparent from the start. I prefer not to post them publicly, mainly to avoid other photographers “borrowing” my policies (we’ve all seen it happen, right?). Rest assured, everything is laid out for you in detail at the time of booking, so there’s no confusion later on. If you have any specific questions or concerns about my cancellation or refund policy, I’m more than happy to chat and make sure you’re comfortable with everything. I’m all about keeping things professional, while also keeping things personal, fun and stress-free for you!
