1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hi, I'm Victor Yang. I never thought I would become a wedding photographer. I got into photography on my trip to the US where my dad gave me his DSLR camera. I started doing photography as a hobby and I was especially passionate about photographing people around me. Then my friends started to get married one after another and they all asked me to photograph their weddings. Before I knew it I was a wedding photographer. Everything just took off from there. I guess I did not choose wedding photography but wedding photography chose me.
Here are some interesting facts about me:
- Never kissed a girl until the day I married my wife.
- Studying a Master of Divinity
- Puppeteer and run Chinese shadow puppet shows in schools.
- Ranking top 10 for above 30 years old in short-track speed skating in Australia
- Know how to solve the Rubik's cube intuitively
2. How long have you been shooting weddings and how many weddings have you photographed?
I have been shooting weddings since 2010. I've now shot over 100 weddings.
3. How would you describe your photography style?
I approach wedding photography as a storyteller, not a director. Think of me as a friend with a camera, someone who blends into the background, capturing the authentic moments that truly matter. The wedding day is one of the most emotionally charged days in a person's life, a day full of raw, unscripted emotions. The experience is too precious to be distracted by photography. My goal as a wedding photographer is not to hijack the wedding and turn it into a photoshoot of my vision but to capture everything as it naturally unfolds. I want your photographs to be time machines, transporting you back to the exact moments of joy, anticipation, and love. When you look at these images years from now, I hope you'll say, 'I remember exactly how that felt,' not 'I remember when Victor told us to stand there and do that.' Each photograph is a story, each moment a treasure waiting to be revisited.
4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?
Couples should book one year before their wedding, especially for weddings in the summer months.
5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
I offer 4-hour, 6-hour, 10-hour and full-day packages starting at $2700. All my packages come with a wedding album, a storytelling wedding slideshow and an online gallery.
6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?
Yes! I'll be there from start to finish. I often bring an assistant with me on the day as well.
7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
I charge $4 per km above 25 km from where I live.
8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?
An Italian handmade wedding album is included in all my packages. Prints can be easily ordered from the online gallery that each couple receives.
9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive their wedding photos? How will they be delivered?
I understand that couples want to share some highlights from their wedding right after their wedding. I normally deliver a few highlights from the wedding in 1-2 days after the wedding. I would then edit all the images and carefully craft the wedding slideshow in 1-2 months. While AI tools have revolutionised image processing, they're just the beginning of my creative journey. Each image receives my personal attention, with careful editing that captures the true essence of the moment. My goal is to create timeless memories that go far beyond quick, automated results. Good things come to those who wait.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
If the Client cancels the contract at least 14 days before the date of the event, the Photographer may retain the deposit, but no further sum will be due.
If cancellation is within 14 days of the Event, the full amount will be due, less a discretionary allowance for post event work not done.
