Marriage Celebrants - Justin Crane

10 Questions with Justin Crane

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hey! My name is Justin Crane, owner, operator and celebrant of Just In Love Weddings and Events!

I have been a celebrant since 2020 and my first wedding was on Halloween, of all days, during one of the lockdown breaks in Melbourne. I think there were about 20 micro weddings all happening at once at the venue!

I became a celebrant almost by accident when my friend asked me if I'd marry him and his partner. I think it is fair to say that I wasn't expecting to go all in and love it as much as I do but I've really enjoyed working with the people I've met and the places I've travelled to in this job.

2. What's your experience as a marriage celebrant? How many weddings have you done?

Over the past 4 years I have conducted around 50 weddings. I've done weddings in people's living rooms with just 5 people to weddings at the Melbourne Museum in front of 100+ guests, not to mention countless wineries and pubs all around Victoria, and even one in New Zealand!

3. How far in advance do couples need to secure your services?

I specialise in Elopements and micro weddings, so I only need the legal one month advanced notice to correctly complete and prepare all the legal documents.

4. How would you describe your ceremony style?

I aim for each ceremony to be unique and match who my couples are. I keep things relaxed and easily adapt to anything that comes up during the ceremony, including a baby crying, coughing or the occasional police siren in the background. Before the ceremony, my couples have a chance to see what I plan to say, but I always leave room to respond to whatever is happening on the day, ensuring that each ceremony is an interactive and enjoyable experience for all.

5. What are your fees for a wedding?

All my ceremonies start at $500, which is all inclusive (including legal paperwork, unlimited consultations and the ceremony). Final prices depend on the service and location of the ceremony.

6. What do you wear when you officiate a wedding?

If your wedding is in the winter I have a nice red velvet jacket. For summertime weddings, I rock a salmon coloured jacket! I will also work with you to ensure that my ensemble doesn't clash with your wedding style.

7. How many pre-wedding sessions will the couple need to have with you?

We will have our initial meeting to see if I am the right fit for your ceremony and then at least one more chat with each of you before your ceremony to iron out details for the script. Besides this, we can have as many meetings as you feel you need. I use Calendly to book my meetings which makes it easy for you to find a time that works best for your schedule.

8. Will you be able to create a personalised ceremony?

Yes, absolutely! All my ceremonies are personalised.

9. Are you available to travel if needed?

I'm very happy to travel. I love being in different areas for weddings, it's a great way to see places I haven't seen before. I've done weddings around the corner from my house to Warrnambool to New Zealand! I am happy to do a ceremony anywhere, anytime!

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

I charge a $200 booking fee which is non-refundable, however you won't lose it if we can just shift your ceremony to another date that I have available! Read more details here.
