1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hi, I’m Kate, and I love my role as Marriage Celebrant.
I majored in Speech and Drama at the Bendigo College of Advanced
Education and was a Teacher Librarian for over twenty years. As you can guess, I love telling stories and I would enjoy creating and presenting your very own love story. I can always you can find something funny, exciting or romantic and and it is often a highlight of the ceremony.
I am a writer and was once offered a Cadetship with The Age in Melbourne, so I can write in a story in a style that will work when I tell it.
My ceremonies can be light hearted, relaxed, romantic or just sweet and simple - as long or short as you like.
I do my fair share of registry style weddings through to the epic at up-market venues.
From first meeting to the Congratulations it brings me much joy and fulfilment and my couples initial relief through to heartfelt thanks at the end.
I live in a beautiful high rise apartment overlooking the Broadwater with my errant poodle Charlie.
2. What's your experience as a marriage celebrant? How many weddings have you done?
Over the past 15 years, I have officiated at over 750 weddings and they were all special and memorable, in their own way.
3. How far in advance do couples need to secure your services?
As soon as you have set a date you are welcome to contact me as your Celebrant.
Get in early for special days and dates - Valentines Day, New Years Eve, Easter and dates like 9.9.2009.
I have even conducted weddings on Christmas Day, usually for older couples who realise the family is visiting from all over the world, the feast is prepared, gifts given and received and there is just one more thing to celebrate to make it the most memorable Christmas ever.
4. How would you describe your ceremony style?
I love a beautiful and romantic ceremony, but my style matches yours.
Whether you want just the briefest ceremony possible or have lots of ideas for special inclusions, like the owl who flew in from Hogwarts to deliver the wedding rings, or cultural inclusions, I bring a special touch.
I help the groom get over some pre-wedding jitters and welcome and include the guests to make it a special occasion.
5. What are your fees for a wedding?
Legals only ceremony at my home at Runaway Bay - just $400
Perfect wedding ceremony at a venue within 20 ks is $800.
On sand weddings or further afield is $1,000.
6. What do you wear when you officiate a wedding?
Whatever suits the occasion, weather and venue.
I fit in with the style of the wedding, but a gold suit or flowing dress will take me almost anywhere.
7. How many pre-wedding sessions will the couple need to have with you?
Unlimited contact whether face to face, by email, phone or FaceTime.
Sometimes one or two meetings and a rehearsal the week before the wedding.
Initial contact and legal document can be on-line, and I meet you face to face at the wedding.
8. Will you be able to create a personalised ceremony?
Absolutely - that it what I do!
I take great pride in creating personalised ceremonies that are meaningful and memorable.
I provide unlimited drafts, but often the first one is just right!
9. Are you available to travel if needed?
As needed for my special couples when I have become their family Celebrant.
Otherwise I can recommend a more local Celebrant if the venue is very far afield.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
To secure your wedding date, a deposit of $100 is required upon booking. This deposit will ensure that your reservation is confirmed and the date is held exclusively for you. The deposit is un-refundable.
I am aware that life happens, and I am very flexible and accommodating in these circumstances and will do everything possible to ensure to work out what is next!
Any monies paid, apart from the deposit, for services not yet rendered will be refunded in the case of unforeseen circumstances. I will always do my best to help in any way that I can.
