1. Introduction: What's your story?
My name is Christina. I was born and raised in Denmark, with a significant part of my childhood spent in Sweden, I have always had an insatiable passion for travelling. The year 2000 was a turning point in my life. While spending a few months in Egypt, I met my wonderful kiwi husband, Wiki.
After our serendipitous meeting, Wiki and I settled in London, where we lived and worked for the next three years. In 2003, our wanderlust took us to Australia. It was love at first sight with Queensland, and we decided to make it our home. Wiki proposed to me at the picturesque Mount Coot-tha, and in 2005, we exchanged our vows at Point Danger Lookout, which sits right on the border between New South Wales and Queensland.
At that time, I was working as a public servant but was longing for a job that would not only give me immense job satisfaction but also allow me to stay at home when we started a family. In 2006, I completed a celebrancy course, becoming a registered Marriage Celebrant in 2008.
Our first beautiful son, Lucas, was born in 2007, followed closely by our second son, Levi, in 2008, who is equally as gorgeous. The early years of parenting were busy, filled with amazing moments spent with our little boys. During this period, I put my celebrancy career on hold to fully immerse myself in motherhood.
Despite my love for the celebrancy profession, there was one significant challenge I needed to overcome: a debilitating fear of public speaking. To conquer this fear, I enrolled in another course and became a Clinical Hypnotherapist. Through daily practice, self-hypnosis and self-improvement, I not only overcame my fear of public speaking but also conquered my fear of driving on highways.
Today, I am proud to say that I have conducted over 500 weddings and I love driving up and down the coast and inland to officiate them.
There is not one day where I don't feel like going to work. Being a marriage celebrant is the best job in the world. I love everything about it, from meeting my couples and hearing their stories, to creating a ceremony that is perfect for them and reflects their personalities, traditions, and bond. Completing all the legal documents and dotting the 'i's, officiating the wedding, and helping my couple become spouses — I love it all.
My three boys and I live in Ferny Hills on Brisbane's northside with our three Pugs, Sylvia, Vera, and Bruce. Our household is made even more lively by our two very fluffy cat-brothers, Licorice and Marshmallow, and our two Quaker parrots, Jade and Blueberry. We are all total homebodies, when we are not travelling or camping, and we love our little oasis in Ferny Hills.
Life as a marriage celebrant brings me great joy and fulfillment. It is a privilege to be a part of such a significant moment in people's lives, and I am grateful every day to be able to share in their happiness and love.
2. What's your experience as a marriage celebrant? How many weddings have you done?
I have been a registered Marriage Celebrant since 2008. Over the past 16 years, I have officiated over 500 weddings and each wedding I officiate is a reflection of the couple's personality, values, and love story.
3. How far in advance do couples need to secure your services?
I have bookings as far as 2026.
The wedding season in Queensland typically runs from April to November when the temperatures are pleasant.
Certain dates within the wedding season are particularly sought after. These often include long weekends, public holidays, and dates with special numeric significance (e.g., 6/6/2026). Popular dates can get booked up quickly, so if you have your heart set on a specific day, early planning and booking are crucial.
In Australia, there are specific legal requirements that must be met before you can get married. The Notice of Intended Marriage form must be completed and signed at least one month, but no more than 18 months, before the wedding date. So bear that in mind when setting your wedding date.
4. How would you describe your ceremony style?
My ceremony style is heartfelt, warm, fun, inclusive, and professional. I love incorporating personal and meaningful elements, and celebrating diversity, and maintaining a high level of organisation and respect. I aim to create a ceremony that honors the occasion and the individuals involved.
5. What are your fees for a wedding?
I have three ceremony packages to choose from.
1. Just Love Ceremony Package (Most Popular)
Cost: $800
The Just Love Ceremony package is a set, yet beautiful and heartfelt legal ceremony. This package is perfect for those who want a meaningful and traditional wedding with just a few rituals.
2. Be Mine Ceremony Package
Cost: $1000
The Be Mine Ceremony package is tailored for those who desire a personalised and bespoke wedding ceremony. Whether you have a clear vision or need some inspiration, this package offers flexibility and a range of possibilities.
3. Legals Only Ceremony
Cost: $600 (on my deck) / $650 (other location)
The Legals Only Ceremony is designed for couples who want to get married without any fuss. It is straightforward and focuses solely on the legal aspects of the marriage. You can choose to include a ring exchange.
Travel Fees: Travel is included for weddings held within 30 km of my home in Ferny Hills. After that, I charge 75c per kilometer.
Parking Fees: Applicable for Brisbane City venues.
6. What do you wear when you officiate a wedding?
I have an extensive collection of various stylish and professional coloured outfits. I always ask my couples what their colour scheme is, and if they have a theme. My goal is to complement the bridal party and align with the overall theme of the wedding. My couples can also pick an outfit for me to wear.
7. How many pre-wedding sessions will the couple need to have with you?
The number of pre-wedding sessions a couple will have with me depends on the chosen ceremony package and the preferences of the couple. 1-2 meetings are usually enough. Many couples prefer to start with a virtual meeting to get to know me and determine if I am the right fit for their special day. If the couple decides to proceed with me, the next step involves completing the initial paperwork and discussing the ceremony details. This can be done in person at my home in Ferny Hills or via virtual means such as Zoom, email, and phone calls. We can now even sign the initial legal paperwork during a virtual meeting, making the process more convenient.
8. Will you be able to create a personalised ceremony?
Absolutely! I take great pride in crafting personalised ceremonies that are meaningful and memorable. This involves getting to know the couple, understanding their vision for their special day, and incorporating their unique stories, personality and traditions into the ceremony.
9. Are you available to travel if needed?
I am very happy to travel to wherever is required. I have been flown to Hamilton Island, and driven long distances north, south, east and west. I love country weddings.
Travel fees are included for weddings up to 30km from my home in Ferny Hills. After that I charge 75c per kilometer.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
To secure your wedding date, a deposit of $100 is required upon booking. This deposit will ensure that your reservation is confirmed and the date is held exclusively for you. The deposit is un-refundable.
I am aware that life happens, and I am very flexible and accommodating in these circumstances and will do everything possible to ensure to work out what is next! Any monies paid, apart from the deposit, for services not yet rendered will be refunded in the case of unforeseen circumstances. I will always do my best to help in any way that I can.
