10 Questions with Meggan Brummer

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hi, I'm Meggan Brummer, founder of Sydney Celebrant Services. I'm passionate around all things creative. I've always loved writing. For years I wrote about meditation, yoga, well-being and travel, and then I started writing heart-melting love stories for my couples. When I'm not spending quality time with my husband and 12-year-old son, I'm teaching meditation and breathing practices, learning something new, swimming in the ocean, running Silence Retreats all over Australia and singing in Sanskrit.

Some fun facts about me:

I'm originally from Zimbabwe, but have lived in Australia since 2001.
Grew up on a sugarcane and wheat farm.
I travel to India every year to take time out for at least 10 days to meditate and recharge.
Recently I've been studying Vedic astrology.
I love treasure hunting at the bottom of the ocean for lost items and then returning them to their owner.
I believe that the best way to improve the quality of your life is to make a difference to the lives of those around you.

2. What's your experience as a marriage celebrant? How many weddings have you done?

I've been marrying couples since 2011 and I've married over 450 couples, mostly in Sydney. But I do travel all over New South Wales and sometimes beyond. I do a lot of weddings in Mosman and in the Northern beaches as well as in the Southern Highlands.

I absolutely love being a celebrant. Helping couples find a fun, uplifting, unique way to share their love through engaging storytelling inspires me. And I love nothing more than when guests come to me at the end of a ceremony and say, "That was the BEST wedding I've EVER been to!"

I'm known as the Yoga-loving, storytelling Celebrant because I'm also a meditation teacher and an international published writer.

3. How far in advance do couples need to secure your services?

I book out quickly. It's not uncommon for me to do 70-80 ceremonies a year. So I encourage couples to book me as soon as they know their wedding date, even if it's a couple of years out from their wedding. It's even more important to book early if your wedding is in Jan-April or Sept to Dec – because these are the most popular months for weddings in Sydney. I've been booked 3 years in advance before. Last year the most popular date was 11th November - I had to turn a lot of couples away for that date.

4. How would you describe your ceremony style?

My style is captivating, relaxed, warm and elegant. Through the magic of storytelling – I make sure you and your guests have the most magical experience ever. Once I've written in your love story and helped you write unforgettable vows, I put them in a keepsake book for you. If you have kids one day – the book will sit nicely on the bookshelf between Bluey and Winnie the Pooh. You'll be able to read it to your kids and grandchildren at bedtime. And every year on your anniversary you'll be able to read it back and relive the most special moments of your love story.

5. What are your fees for a wedding?

I have 3 main packages for you to choose from. In addition, I offer the legals only for couples who don't want a Ceremony but just want to do the paperwork. It costs $590 for legals only and these happen on weekdays only.

For the 3 packages, prices vary from season to season and year to year, ranging from $987 for the Classic Package up to $5727 for the Ultimate Package. Of my 3 packages, the most popular package is the Luxury Package.

The Luxury Package costs $1697 for weddings in Jan-April and Sept-Dec 2025. It includes:

6. What do you wear when you officiate a wedding?

When I officiate at a wedding I dress to fit the style and colours of your event, making sure your wedding photographs are instagramable. Most of my couples go for black-tie or formal.

7. How many pre-wedding sessions will the couple need to have with you?

I mostly attract couples who are very busy professionals, who love to time save while not compromising on quality. Most of my couples meet me on zoom for the first time, have a rehearsal with me on zoom 10 days before their wedding and meet me in person on their wedding day. By the time we meet in person we've usually forgotten it's our first time because we've got to know each other pretty well by then.

8. Will you be able to create a personalised ceremony?

Creating a personalised Ceremony is my thing. That's what I do best. My couples love that their ceremony will be unlike any other ceremony – filled with gorgeous little anecdotes that make their guests laugh and cry. I also give a lot of hands on help with writing your personal vows. I help you make sure your vows are are of similar weight so you can feel confident on the day. My couples love the help and support they get from me here, because your vows and love story are the heart of your ceremony. That's the bit that has your guests feel like they're part of something incredibly special.

9. Are you available to travel if needed?

I'm an adventurous spirit and love to travel, so I'm always happy to throw a suitcase in the back of the car (or plane) and head off for a wedding. In fact travel has always been my thing. When I was 25 I bought a round the world ticket and travelled the world on my own. Travel is $1.50 per km for weddings which are further than 30km away from Mosman, Sydney. Otherwise, it's free.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

When couples book me they pay 50% of their total fee upfront. There's no charge to move your wedding date to another day however many times as you need to, but the booking fee is non-refundable,
