10 Questions with Fiona Hall

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hello there, I'm Fiona from Fiona Hall Celebrant services, bringing you "ceremonies with heart". I am based in the Lake Macquarie area and am frequently travelling to the Hunter Valley Central Coast and Newcastle.

As a singer in a band, natural leader and confident speaker I am comfortable behind a microphone and just love the amazing connections I have made with couples and their families over my ten year ceremony journey. I have great life experience and can relate to couples looking to personalise their wedding ceremony be it just them and their witnesses or all their family and friends. Every couple is unique and I feel it is important I draw out the special qualities and characteristics that personalise your ceremony and start the celebration of your special day.

I am fortunate to live on the water at Dora Creek and so am often found in my egg chair enjoying the bird life and soothing water as I create your ceremony.

I love getting out in the kayak or finding that special bottle of wine and the perfect food pairing to enjoy with friends.
As a grandmother to four gorgeous littlies I also enjoy making memories with them.

My previous work in education with students with disabilities has given me a deep understanding of those with special needs and am always happy to accommodate your needs.

2. What's your experience as a marriage celebrant? How many weddings have you done?

My ten year journey as a celebrant has allowed me to perform ceremonies in all places and for a diverse range of couples. Heading towards my 300 weddings as well as many commitment and vow renewal ceremonies I am comfortable on the beach with just you two; on a secluded point on the Lake with you and a few close friends; under the tallest pine trees in the Watagan Mountains; surrounded by the gorgeous vines in the Hunter Valley; on a yacht in the middle of Lake Macquarie; in a rainforest in the hills of Coffs Harbour or on a clifftop overlooking some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I am one lucky lady.

3. How far in advance do couples need to secure your services?

I always suggest that an obligation free catch up inperson or by video is a must once you have a date and venue locked in as it may take you a little while to find the celebrant that meets your vibe, has the experience and professional approach you need. It really doesn't matter how far ahead you book, at least you can be assured of your first choice if you get in early.

4. How would you describe your ceremony style?

I am flexible enough to accommodate the vibe you want for your ceremony however I find most couples I work with like to feel a balance between honouring and celebrating their commitment whilst bringing a relaxed comfy and engaging atmosphere for their guests.

I will always work with you to discover any special rituals we can incorporate whether paying homage to your background, your family or blending families with little mini ceremonies and a special Family Certificate. I have been known to even revert to my Scottish heritage or learn some special blessings in a language that is important to you.

5. What are your fees for a wedding?

Whilst I will always firm a quote once we have discussed what we would like to incorporate in your ceremony my fees start at $600 for legal ceremonies in my home. Full ceremonies are priced from $950 and may attract a travel fee.

6. What do you wear when you officiate a wedding?

Primarily I wear a dress or skirt and top although for more casual ceremonies I may wear slacks and top but I will always check colours with you and ensure I am in keeping with your dress code.

7. How many pre-wedding sessions will the couple need to have with you?

Depending on the type of ceremony you are having it's usually only one or two actual meetings plus a rehearsal if you choose to have one. I am always available for you though on email or by phone.

8. Will you be able to create a personalised ceremony?

My inclusive questionnaire and my follow up chat will always ensure we can create a bespoke ceremony just for you.

9. Are you available to travel if needed?

Always happy to chat about a road trip.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

My Booking fee is non refundable unless the ceremony is cancelled by me.
