1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hello!
I am Callum Walker. As a celebrant, I offer civil marriage services to any and all couples seeking to become married in a relaxed, respectful and fun manner.
I became a marriage celebrant because I believed I could help couples achieve their unique vision for their ceremony whether it be small and intimate, large and loud or something in-between.
2. What's your experience as a marriage celebrant? How many weddings have you done?
As of 1 January 2025, I have registered 65 weddings across four states and territories and look forward to registering many more!
3. How far in advance do couples need to secure your services?
In accordance with the law, couples must contact me at least one month prior to their ceremony because components of the 'Notice of Intended Marriage' form must be completed by then.
For example, the couple must contact me by 12 August 2025 should they wish to marry on the 12 September 2025.
Though I do recommend reaching out earlier because I may not read a couple's email the day they click 'send'!
4. How would you describe your ceremony style?
My ceremony style is dependent on the couple's vision for their ceremony. It's is all about what the couple wants.
Should the couple desire a relatively short, relaxed and light-hearted ceremony, we can do that.
Should the couple desire a longer, more structured and serious ceremony, we can do that.
Should the couple desire something in-between, we can do that.
My approach to creating the ceremony with the couple is collaborative, flexible and non-judgemental.
5. What are your fees for a wedding?
Regarding fees, I offer three packages:
Make It Happen. The legally required components only, completed casually with no script, no ceremony structure, no fuss.
Legals Only. A shorter ceremony including the legal components and whatever else the couple envisions.
More Than Legals. A longer ceremony including the legal components, a bespoke narrative about your relationship and whatever else the couple envisions.
I also offer Master of Ceremony services and am building up the courage to offer a basic DJ service.
6. What do you wear when you officiate a wedding?
I discuss my attire with the couple when organising the ceremony to align my appearance with their vision.
One end of the spectrum is a blue or black suit. The other is a more casual appearance consisting of a linen shirt and shorts.
I am also always open to costumes.
7. How many pre-wedding sessions will the couple need to have with you?
The number of pre-wedding sessions required depends on the package selected by the couple.
Make It Happen. This tends to include an initial consultation (approx. 15mins) only, followed by email communications to complete the paperwork and confirm logistical details.
Legals Only. This tends to include an initial consultation and a pre-ceremony meeting (approx. 20–40mins).
More Than Legals. This tends to include an initial consultation, a narrative meeting (approx. 40–60mins) and a pre-ceremony meeting.
Regardless of the above, I am always open to meeting with the couple should they request an additional meeting because my priority is them feeling comfortable and confident in the lead-up to the ceremony.
8. Will you be able to create a personalised ceremony?
Every ceremony I create is personalise to the couple because it is created in collaboration with the couple.
Should the couple desire a bespoke narrative (such as that provided in my 'More Than Legals' package), I choose to collect information about their time together so far through a meeting rather than a survey.
The meeting provides the couple and I the opportunity to talk through their story in depth. It also provides me the opportunity to ask clarifying questions and uncover memories the couple may not have considered worth including if completing a survey.
Beyond the bespoke narrative, I invite couples to include whatever else they desire during the ceremony whether that be speeches, poetry, interpretive dance, etc.
9. Are you available to travel if needed?
I am available to travel is needed. I have so far registered weddings in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
As policies (unfortunately) tend to be, my cancellation and refund policy is a little to detailed to be included here.
Should a couple wish to review my policy as part of their research, I am more than happy to provide them a blank contract for them to review.
