1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hey, I am Teisha, both my husband Caleb & I are Sunshine Coast locals, & like most people we really love this beautiful area. We have three super cute fur-babies, one being a very energic Kelpie named Dusty. I love to go for morning runs with Dusty and I try to fit a Pilates class in once a week. I discovered the amazing benefits of Pilates over 6 yrs ago, when I had to give hairdressing up as an apprentice for 7 months, due to having a bad shoulder. It was a rough time but during that time, I had the chance to I met Caleb!
Before I began my apprenticeship, as a 16 year old, I liked the idea of doing wedding hair even before I began hairdressing. Now I am a qualified hairdresser and owner of Dream Bridal Hair. Working with brides to create a look for their wedding day which brings to life their vision, is a true pleasure & being apart of their special wedding mornings is the most rewarding part of my job. I not only specialize in creating wedding hair, but I truly love our beautiful wedding industry & my DBH brides.
2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?
I have had the privilege of working with & learning from some incredible hair artists over the years in some high end salons. I also have invested in courses by well known bridal hair specialists to further my skills in hairstyling. I am also grateful to have spent some time freelancing for some talented owners of makeup and hairstyling businesses, I feel this gave me wonderful hands on experience and also valuable insight into how to successfully prepare, run and deliver a wedding morning for hair and makeup etc.
Dream Bridal hair has looked after over 136 brides of its own and as mentioned I also have spent some of the first couple years freelancing for some other wonderful hair and makeup artist businesses and looking after their bride's and wedding parties hairstyles.
3. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
DREAM BRIDAL HAIRSTYLING PACKAGE $200
Our Dream Bridal Hairstyling Package is designed to calm, support & relax you on your big day, while making sure you feel at your most beautiful. We begin with a calming essential oil massage & then move to styling. Please note there are additional travel fees and minimum spends required for on location hairstyling services.
4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?
Dream Bridal partners with local in-demand makeup artists for your big day. If you have 4 or more people wanting makeup services, we offer to organize your makeup & remove some of the stress of planning your big day. I only like to book one wedding per day, as I personally like to look after my bride's hairstyling work. I will sometimes book an additional hairstylist to assist with looking after my bridal parties if I feel this is necessary, some reasons maybe an extra large bridal party/early start. Now broaching a hard subject... life & sickness does happen to everyone. If I feel I am able to still work I will, as I know how important each wedding booking is, however as an example one bride decided she preferred to have me organize someone else to take over their hairstyling booking due to her Mother having a compromised immune system, so another industry connection I had, kindly took the wedding hairstyling over.
5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
Yes, I always charge a travel fee. Travel fee costs vary and are quoted for prior to my bride's dates being secured for hairstyling.
6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?
Bridal previews (Trials) are highly recommended to invest in. I usually recommend having a bridal preview 4 – 2 months out from your wedding date, if you are in a position to do so.
This will allow me to become more familiar with your lovely locks and make a 'hair game plan' for us. I feel it can help make the actual preparations on wedding day feel more nice and relaxed for you. Bridal previews are located at a private home space in Peregian Springs & go for around 2hrs. They can be booked up to 8 weeks in advance & are held on available weekdays.
The cost of the bridal preview is $185. If you have chosen for your makeup to be organized through us as well, bridal previews are available for makeup and are an additional $185.
7. What beauty products do you use and would you be open to the bride using her own make-up?
I have been hand picking my products over the years. I am also a lover of low tox products when possible and have been fortunate to have worked in a low toxic salon for a couple years as well, however I do have a variety of brands I have hand picked for my kit.
The lovely makeup artists and hairstylists who help out sometimes on Dream Bridal Hair weddings, do prefer using their own products as they know how they preform.
8. How can you make the bride's wedding makeup last and look good in photos?
Using good prep work, products and techniques makeup and hairstyles can have more longevity. I often hear from my brides how well their hairstyles have lasted, and it makes me so happy as this is something that is personally important too me, having experienced my own hair sometimes not holding curls well etc.
However, I always like to tell my brides that their hairstyles will wear themselves in, as I feel this is realistic especially in QLD weather and everyone's hair is different, but as long as they still look good that the main thing:)
9. How long will makeup take on the day and how long will you be staying for on the day?
I usually like to allow approx 55min per person & 1hr 30mins for my brides. :) With a little time for touch ups at the end. Each artist works differently, and time can depend also on each individual artist.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
A security fee of $100 is required to secure your chosen date. This fee will be applied towards the total cost of your hairstyling & services on the day. The security fee is non-refundable & non-transferable under any circumstances. Read more details here.
