Frequently Asked Questions

Often, the Celebrant is booked after the venue is booked. Aim to book as soon as possible so they have availability. However, it is always worth asking as sometimes there are rescheduled weddings or if its a weekday wedding there may be a lot more availability. You need to sign the first of the legal paperwork at least 30 days prior to your wedding day and no earlier than 18 months.

The Marriage Act 1961 requires the parties to an intended marriage to give the authorised celebrant at least one month’s written notice prior to the solemnisation of the marriage. This notice is known as the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM).

You can fill this form out with me, I can explain and assist, and I can witness it for you. (It does need to be witnessed by an authorised witness of which Civil Celebrants are one).

The next piece of paperwork is the Declaration of No Legal Impediment, this is like a Statutory Declaration stating that there's no legal reason or impediment to you getting married, this needs to be completed as close as possible but prior to your ceremony.

The final pieces of paperwork are signed on your wedding day with your two witnesses: the Celebrant’s ‘register’, the Marriage Certificate and your Marriage presentation certificate that you keep.

No

No you don't have to write your own vows, I can absolutely help you with your vows. I have a range of sample vows you can review and get inspiration from, and can edit to your own liking, what feels right for you both.

There are some legal words that must be said that couples often include as part of their vows, but they don't need to be, I can guide you through all of this.

Yes I have a professional wireless microphone and Bose S1 Pro speaker that uses blue tooth to connect to a smart device with a play list on it.

Unfortunately (unless an elopement) I won't be able to press 'play' and 'stop' for the music during the ceremony. I recommend asking someone who you trust (but not in the bridal party) to assist with the co ordinating of music if you are using a playlist on a phone for example. I will co ordinate with this person well before the ceremony start to pair the devices and do a sound check.

I am a Professional authorised and registered Civil Celebrant with the Attorney General's Office of Australia. Annually I undertake Professional Development. I'm a paid member of the Alliance of Celebrants Queensland, Queensland's largest marriage celebrant association.

I have been a Civil Marriage Celebrant for 15+ years and have officiated over 135 weddings. I genuinely love being a Celebrant and it would be an honour to be yours.

Congratulations on your engagement and I'm so excited for you with the amazing journey towards your dream wedding day!
